We absolutely get that the assumption is often that moving to VoIP means replacing your entire phone system — and all the desk phones too — but we have some good news: that often isn’t the case.
Think of your PBX as a translator split in two. The left-hand side speaks the language of the outside world (your incoming lines), while the right-hand side speaks the language of your office. Whether that internal language is analogue or digital, the PBX translates between them, which means the two sides don’t actually need to speak the same language.
Because of this, whether you update your system by adding an AudioCodes Mediant gateway or enable SIP support through a licence or module, your existing analogue or digital handsets can usually stay exactly where they are. SIP trunks come in on the left, and your phones carry on as normal on the right. Job done.
The one exception? If you move to a fully cloud-based system. Without a physical PBX on-site acting as the translator, the system runs end-to-end on VoIP, meaning IP-compatible handsets are typically needed.
But for most businesses, once you’re running on SIP, the savings speak for themselves. SIP services cost a fraction of traditional legacy lines, with many packages including free local, national, and mobile calls as standard.
Less disruption. Lower bills. Existing investment protected.
